What began with an abstract portrait of Picasso in 2019 turned into the first series called the "Artists Series". I chose to look at all the artist that have had some kind of influence on both me as a person and my work. Then in 2022 I was invited to participate in a group show called "Velorio". I did a portrait of Vicente Fernandez on a wooden guitar incased in red velvet symbolic for a guitar case and his coffin. this led to the "Voces de Mexico" series. Other series followed and the popularity of the series gained momentum and commissions for private collections came.
This series began with Picasso and expanded to include iconic artists like Andy Warhol, Francis Bacon, and other contemporary figures. It also features some of the greatest Latin American artists, such as Tamayo, Lam, and Matta. Each original piece is created using mixed media on paper.
I was invited to participate in a Hispanic Heritage Month Exhibition in Ketchum, Idaho. While I brought some of my work, I felt it needed more iconic imagery, and who embodies Mexican identity more than Frida Kahlo? This marked the beginning of my "Arts and Culture Series."
In 2022, I was invited to participate in a major event called "Velorio," dedicated to Vicente Fernández, who had recently passed away. I created a portrait of him on a small guitar, which was met with great appreciation. That piece became the first in my "Voces de México" series.
After the Mexican Singers Series was exhibited, many people asked if I planned to feature other famous artists from different musical genres. This inspired me to create a large mural of Nipsey Hussle in South Los Angeles, followed by a painting of him. This marked the beginning of the "Musical Legends" series, which also includes icons like Freddie Mercury, Bob Marley, and many others.
A friend asked if I could create a portrait of a fellow artist for an exhibition, which also coincided with his birthday. I gladly agreed and decided to follow the style of my Artists Series, given his artistic background. This commission, a portrait of Mario Trillo, became the first piece in my Commissioned Series
